Baltic Rim Economies issue 3/2016 is out

The Pan-European Institute publishes a discussion forum, Baltic Rim Economies (BRE), which deals with the development of the Baltic Sea Region. In the BRE review, high-level public and corporate decision makers, representatives of Academia as well as several other experts contribute to the discussion.

BONUS BaltCoast published the first special issue of the Coastal & Marine Magazine

The BONUS BaltCoast project published the first out of three special issues of the Coastal & Marine Magazine.

“Recalling ICZM – Insights from the Baltic” gives an introduction to the BONUS BaltCoast project, as well as to a Systems Approach Framework for the sustainable management of the Baltic Sea, which is implemented by the project. The issue sets a special focus on the re-analysis of ICZM case studies in the Baltic Sea Region. Bridging firms, policies and academia for the benefit of the Northern Dimension

The Northern Dimension (ND) is a mosaic of diverse histories, traditions, strengths and challenges. ND area has a lot to gain from taking advantage of the diverse capacities within the region. Furthermore, in times of geopolitical tensions, economic problems and social challenges, joining forces for the joint benefit is increasingly pivotal. We have a lot to gain from tackling common problems and pinning down the potential of freely flowing people, goods and ideas.

Call for proposals: Blue Technology - transfer of innovative solutions to sea basin economies

The Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) has launched a call focusing on transfer of innovative solutions to sea basin economies under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund. Under this call, the Commission is putting up a total of €2.52 million to encourage public-private partnerships that will support the transfer of new technologies and research results into commercial applications and coordinate strategic investment at sea-basin level (Atlantic, Baltic Sea, Black Sea, Mediterranean or North Sea).

The deadline for submission for this call for proposals is 30 September 2016.

Call for proposals: The Nordic Green Growth Research and Innovation Programme

The Nordic countries have committed themselves to ambitious climate goals towards 2050 in terms of developing energy efficient and low-carbon societies. To achieve these goals, extensive green transitions are needed in all areas of the Nordic societies and economies, facilitated by promoting green economic growth, sustainability and competitiveness in both the public and the private sectors.

The main research and innovation funders in the Nordic countries are now launching the joint Nordic Green Growth Research and Innovation Programme (hereafter “the programme”) in cooperation with NordForsk, Nordic Innovation and Nordic Energy Research.

The programme will cover innovation, research and energy, as well as science and technology. The programme will generate Nordic added value and create synergies with relevant initiatives nationally and at the Nordic level.

Application period ends in 16.08.2016 - 10:00 CET

The total budget amounts to NOK 73 million.

Funding decision: mid-November 2016. Project start-up: Q1 2017.
