Exploring the Northern Dimension

The new Baltic Sea Region Programme for the years 2014-2020 out now!

Transnational cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region will continue in the funding period 2014-2020. After more than two years of intense work, the Joint Programming Committee, comprising national delegations from eight EU Member States (Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Sweden) as well as the neighbouring countries Norway, Belarus, and Russia, approved the Cooperation Programme on 14 May, 2014, in Warsaw.

After the approval, the Cooperation Programme was submitted to every participating country’s government for final national endorsement. By July, the European Commission will receive the Programme for final approval. The start of the new Programme will be announced at the Programme Conference on 26-27 November in Warsaw. From September 2014, the Joint Technical Secretariat will start provide advisory services to interested applicants.

The Northern Dimension: Synergism of logistics strategies

Saint-Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON) is glad to invite you to take part in international scientific conference "The Northern Dimension: Synergism of logistics strategies". The conference will be held on 10-11th of December, 2015 in UNECON (30/32 Griboedova Canal).

The conference will address the matters, related to cooperation between Russian (including North-Western region) and Northern and Baltic Sea States scientific and business communities' representatives in development of effective logistics strategies. Participants will discuss the primary ways to intensify logistics diversification in financial, service, innovation and other sectors, and to provide expansion of international relations for professional cooperation enhancement of forwarding companies, logistics providers, academic and administrative institutions in the field of scientific research and educational activities. Working language of the conference is English and Russian.

The call for applications opens soon!

Is your organisation participating in an EU project or a flagship within the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region? Would you like to cooperate with countries outside the EU? If you are a Swedish organisation, you can apply for funding from the Swedish Institute to establish and develop networks in this area!

What is Third Country Participation?

Third Country Participation in the Baltic Sea region offers Swedish actors the opportunity to apply for project funding for the inclusion of actors from Russia or the countries of the EU Eastern Partnership in a current EU project or a flagship within the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.

The projects applying for funding for Third Country Participation in the Baltic Sea region will contribute to economic, environmentally and socially sustainable growth in the Baltic Sea region and its immediate area. In the long term they will contribute to an increased integration in the region. The projects will work on a common challenge in the region and benefit all participating actors.

The projects should have a clear link to policies in the region: the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region and/or the EU Eastern Partnership.

  • A project may run for no longer than 2 years and no less than six months.
  • A project may apply for up to SEK 350,000 for a 1-year project and up to SEK 700,000 for a 2-year project.

Who can apply?

  • The main applicant has to be based in Sweden.
  • The application must include at least two actors in two different countries eligible for support, one of which is Sweden (as main applicant).
  • The funding is available for actors from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russian Federation, Sweden and Ukraine.
  • The application must be linked to a current EU project where one of the parties involved is the Swedish applicant. Alternatively, the application may be linked to a flagship under the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region in which the Swedish applicant is involved

The call for applications will open during the spring and close end of May 2019. Dates are still preliminary.

Updated EUSBSR Action Plan

Following an extensive consultation with Member States concerned and stakeholders in the Baltic Sea region, a revised Action Plan of the EUSBSR was agreed with Member States concerned and now is finalised. The revised Action Plan, which is more streamlined and focused, consists of 13 policy areas and 4 horizontal actions, in total 17 thematic areas of macro-regional significance. It also includes a new chapter on the role of regional organisations/networks and their added-value within the EUSBSR. The revised Action Plan was presented at the 6th Annual Forum of the EUSBSR (15-16 June 2015, Jūrmala, Latvia).

VIII International From Science to Business Forum

VIII International From Science to Business Forum to be held 13-16 May, 2014, in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The From Science to Business Forum was first held in 2007 and has become an annual event. Over the seven years, innovation development obstacles in Russia, new trends in Russian and international markets, new Russian Federation Government initiatives, development institutes, scientific organizations and business companies have been discussed.

This website generates, gathers and disseminates knowledge and information on the Northern Dimension. The website is maintained by the Northern Dimension Institute (NDI), which is an open network community of universities and research institutes.
